TRANSPORTATION OVERNIGHT WITH WET ICE
CONTENTS OF THE TRANSPORT CONTAINER
One large plastic bag with disinfectant tablets.
For Clinical Samples:-
one NOAX container with packing, absorbent material and a disinfectant tablet.
One small plastic bag with two security seals.
Two pieces of bubble packing.
One metallised plastic bag with a bung and funnel attached.
One piece of bubble packing adherent to the base.
RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE FOR PACKING THE TRANSPORT CONTAINER
Remove all the contents apart from the adherent bubble packing.
Ensure the caps on the specimen bottles are tightly engaged and place them upright, or with cellsheets covered if monolayers, in the large plastic bag.
Express any trapped air, seal and place on the adherent bubble packing to one side of the container with the closed end towards the top of the container.
For Clinical Samples:-
Ensure the caps on specimen bottles are tightly engaged and place them upright in the NOAX container.
Place the container upright on the adherent bubble packing to one side of the container.
Remove the bung from the metallised bag and fill with ice - the funnel attached to the neck can be used as a scoop - gently compacting the ice by occasionally tapping the base against a solid surface until the top of the bag folds over at the marked line.
Express any trapped air and replace the bung firmly.
Distribute the ice evenly throughout the bag then place upright on the adherent bubble packing at one side of the container. Lean the top of the bag to the opposite side so as to cover the samples.
Pack the space remaining above the ice bag with the bubble packing - discard any surplus.
Enclose in the remaining plastic bag details of the samples and place on top of the bubble packing.
CLOSURE OF CONTAINER AND RETURN
Replace the lid with the arrows aligned. Lock the lid in place by moving the handle down and
insert the security seals through the handle and lid on both sides.
Engage the seals and remove the labelled piece of paper on top of the container exposing the
biohazard label and return address.
The container is now ready for transportation.
