Sample Transportation Service for Clinical and Veterinary Testing

To ensure optimal survival of any pathogens that may be in your samples, the delivery of transport containers, for return of samples on the same day or overnight with wet ice or solid carbon dioxide, is an important part of our Testing Service.

Containers, with suitable packaging and advice notes for their use, will be delivered to your premises by courier.

Where samples are to be returned to Mycoplasma Experience on the same day, no temperature control is required. The container should not be exposed to direct sunlight.

For overnight transfer, wet ice provides the temperature of choice for freshly taken samples or swabs but mycoplasmas survive well at -70°C and transport of accumulated samples on solid carbon dioxide may be preferred (e.g. for surveys where survival of the pathogen sought on freezing and thawing has been confirmed).

For temperature controlled transportation, approximately two litres of crushed ice or five litres of solid carbon dioxide will be required per container.

If swabs are to be cultured, Mycoplasma Experience will supply sufficient tubes of transport medium with the transport container.

Cultural testing can conveniently be arranged by phone (or by fax) at any time.
